How to Grow Your Client Base as a Life Coach, Nutritionist, Mentor, Spiritual Advisor, or Healer
If you own and operate any business, but especially one that operates within the holistic or spiritual niches, it’s my guess that authenticity and integrity are likely very important to you.
In which case, some of the ‘traditional’ methods of marketing simply might not resonate with you…
Or your clients.
And that’s because you don’t want to badger them.
You don’t want to show up at their digital doorstep begging for the time of day. (And trust me, they don’t want you to either!)
What you do want is to grow your client base so you can earn a living doing what you love and be of service to as many people as you can because of it.
So, how the heck do you do all that while maintaining your integrity?
Well, the first and most important step is to offer genuine value.
And a looooooot of it.
Some great ways to grow your client base are publishing helpful blogs, sending emails mindfully, posting valuable content on social media, and offering a free consultation to interested leads.
All of these methods will allow you to engage with your potential clients or customers regularly and offer them value that they will truly appreciate.
This allows you to answer any questions they might have, handle their objections, let them know you recognize their dreams and desires, and showcase some ways in how you may be able to help.
Of course without asking for much, if anything, in return from them.
But, you also want to be sure the efforts you're putting in will be working to grow your client base in a sustainable and scalable way.
Is it sustainable to have a personal discovery call with every single person that’s interested in what you do? Maybe. But maybe not.
That depends on your goals and the nature of the business you’re working to build. For example, if you run a practice where you can only accommodate a few clients at a time, this method may work fine for you. However, if your rates or prices are relatively high, you may need to work just a little bit harder to build their trust before they decide to work with you or buy from you.
And if you’ve got a physical product like a course, a training, a community, or anything else along those lines, what is sustainable for you will likely be something that is also scalable.
Since you’ve clicked on this article about how to grow your client base, I think it’s safe to say that scaling does matter to you.
So, the question in this case scenario would be, is it scalable to have a personal discovery call with every interested person?
Probably not.
Is it sustainable to post blogs weekly? That depends on whether you’re writing them yourself or outsourcing that task. Is it scalable to post blogs? Yes, but it depends on how many people are reading them.
Is it sustainable and scalable to post on social media every day or every week? Possibly. But remember, you don’t own that property and so you have no control of your community there. Everything could change overnight and you can lose a ton of business—Cough Cough Twitter… aka X.
Is it sustainable to send emails regularly to your list? Absolutely. But is it scalable? That depends on what you’re doing to grow the list, and also on the emails that you’re sending to them. If you bombard them with the same things too often… your list will slowly #unsubscribe.
Then, what IS the best way to grow your client or customer base?
Publish a book!
Becoming a published author will open so many new channels for you.
Think back to the last time you saw a super-established professional that didn’t have a book.
Almost never right!
All the big names out there pretty much have a book. And for many of them, it was having that book that opened the doorway to new possibilities, bringing them to where they are today. Joe Dispenza,
Books build your authority, establish solid credibility, and get people really excited about what you have to offer.
Having a book gives you a first-class ticket to speaking engagements, lands you discovery calls, and rapidly begins to grow your client base from your book launch and forward.
Not to mention it allows you to raise your rates. Because once you have the credibility of having gained ‘Author Status’, people will be willing to pay more for your products or services without you having to explain why it’s valuable. (Because you’ll do that in the book!)
I hope you haven’t clicked off because you’re thinking…
“Write a book? How? I’m not a writer and writing a book will take too much time that I don’t have! I’m already at my limit with responsibilities!”
If you are thinking that…
reach out for support!
Being a published author has far too many incredible benefits to dismiss because of time constraints or not knowing where to start or how to write.
